Party Chairperson

Councillor Charles Shaw the current Chair has many years of Liberal campaigning experience. As a member  of the party did not agree with the merger which created the Liberal Democrats however he worked with this for a number of years as a Constituency Chair and Candidate.  Educated at Manchester Polytechnic (now MMU) in Youth & Community Work he later had career roles in company secretaryship and insurance later returning to youth services and major roles in the voluntary sector. He studied postgraduate at Liverpool Polytechnic (Now JMU) and`other institutions.

As a former member of health authority bodies, drainage boards and as a chair and director during the connexions service period he is a past president of Lincoln Insurance Institute and a National Association trustee and County Director of Boys and Girls Clubs having played a role in the encouragement of young people to visit and understand councils and parliament and has worked cross party on this.

Charles believes  local control rather than over centralism and having a Liberal ‘soul’ is important for the party.  At a young age having campaigned cross-party alongside historic parliamentary figures and later as a professional worker been part of Youth Charter 2000 he felt the dangers in the treaty of Rome for the UK were not appreciated. Charles also worked with the Campaigns of Richard Wainwright FCA the great Liberal Constituency MP.

With 20 years ministry experience Charles is proud to have been the first Chair of the Centre for Reconciliation which works tirelessly to bring communities together and support peace initiatives across many cultural divides. Cllr Shaw is married to Daphne and has three grown up children and knows of the issues facing families today.  His hobbies include a family football interest supporting Preston North End Football Club and Lincoln City (The Imps) where he lives.
