• Ensuring that all new contracts go to open competitive tender, with any eligible business being allowed to compete, and with the outcome decided according to objective and open criteria with no political involvement in the process. In addition, smaller businesses will be encouraged to bid for them as well. 
  
  
• Ensure that public procurement is covered in any international trade deals that we negotiate, so that firstly there is more competition and secondly British taxpayers get the best value for money. Lastly, enable British companies the opportunity to secure contracts with overseas governments should they wish to.
